There was an adrenalin rush in the last few days as the Australian Institute of Professional Photography State awards were finding their owners. It’s a wonderful time of the year and more so for me this year. It’s a great place to gather, acknowledge names and show appreciation to your peers. And if you are rewarded yourself, it’s an extra reason to have a couple of glasses of bubbles which I did very happily.

I was delighted to find out that one of my images got a Silver Distinction at the awards;

I love this image. I took it with so much passion and I guess the beauty and the quality communicated itself to others to appreciate it as well. I’m grateful to my stunning model for giving herself to me hundred percent.

I was awarded a Silver for this image of Popi’s as most of you know by now, how obsessed I am with the project “Migrant Mothers of Australia” and how much credit it has gained me since last year. It’s because of this project, I’ve been exhibiting, I’ve been getting published, I’ve been getting jobs. It’s simply helping me engrave my name out there and that is what you’d want from your work. A little appreciation and a little value. I was the ACMP runner up student photographer of the year in 2014, in portrait category because of this project.

I feel extremely achieved in the last couple of years. I feel proud of my work as a photographer and I’m becoming that professional who is sympathetic, creative and hard working…
Congratulations to all my peers and it’s wonderful to have a bunch of inspiring people around.
